The first Friday of February has been designated by the awareness campaign, Heart Truth, as National Wear Red Day in the United States. On this day, men and women are encouraged to wear red as a symbol of their support of women’s heart health. Today we picked books on prevention and screening of heart disease.

Rosa Parks, also known as a First Lady of civil rights, was born on February 4, 1913. On December 1, 1955, Rosa Parks, a 42-year-old African-American seamstress, refused to give up her seat to a white man while riding on a city bus in Montgomery, Alabama. For doing this, Rosa Parks was arrested and fined for breaking the laws of segregation. Rosa Parks' refusal to leave her seat sparked the Montgomery Bus Boycott and is considered the beginning of the modern Civil Rights Movement.
