Human Rights Day is observed by the international community every year on 10 December. It commemorates the day in 1948 the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Today we picked books on history of civil rights in U.S., Democracy and Human rights education.

On Friday, December 6, American Library held a movie screening session conducted by Jeff Evans, Master of Social Work (MSW), who is currently working with ETRC, Kyiv. The participants had a prescreening discussion about a science-fiction film "Avatar", on self-esteem characteristics of the movie characters, exchanging their views and opinions.

On Friday, December 6 American Library and Kyiv EducationUSA Advising Center held a lecture "How to apply to US colleges and universities and get admitted - perspective of an American student" conducted by Kara Hodgson (Indiana U Bloomington, MA; U of Alaska Fairbanks, BA). Applicants learned about US colleges and universities, the importance of essays and motivational letters, tips from an American student on how to be a successful applicant.
