Head of the Library since May 2013. Graduated from Kyiv National Linguistic University (Translators’/ Interpreters’ Department) in 2011. Since 2016 - PhD in Education (Kyiv Borys Grinchenko University), defended a dissertation on the topic: “Professional training of the Library and Information Science specialists in the higher education system of the USA”. Has 15 years of experience in LIS. Open World 2013 Alumna (Education and Innovations).

On September 20, 2019, presented with Peace Medal for exemplary service to the cause of mutual understanding between Ukraine and the USA, and throughout the world family by Organising Committee of the International Historical and Cultural Project Light and Liberty. Iryna is a librarian and educator. 

She received an MA in Library Science from Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts in 1994.

BA in Philology from Kyiv National Linguistic University in 2008

MA in Management of Higher Education Kyiv Slavistic University 2011

MA in Finance from National University of Bio-technologies and resources in1996

She is a PhD in Education (Kyiv Borys Grinchenko University) , defended a dissertation on the topic: «Professional training of future specialist public relations in Ukraine (the second half of the 20th century – the beginning of the 21st century)

American Library  at NaUKMA  is open to  all visitors

Library membership at American Library is free for all categories

American Library Membership includes:

• working in reading rooms,
• visiting American Library Events,
• using ElibraryUSA platform,
• receiving training and other consultations on e-resources usage, Academic Integrity, Information Literacy, and Media Literacy from American Library specialists.
• American Library Membership must be renewed annually. This service is also free.

Circulation         

Book loans are free of charge. Members may borrow 4 books at once. Loaned materials may be renewed 3 times unless previously requested by another member.

American Library's users can renew their loans online via the American Library website:

• or in person at the library desk.

 Materials that may not be borrowed include reference, games and art albums.

Fines    

A fine of 3 UAH per day is charged for any item not returned by the due date.

For damage or loss of a book, a fine of its ten-time cost will be charged. It is also possible to provide the library with the same or appropriate book.

Eating, drinking, and smoking is not allowed in the American library.

Please do not talk loudly.
Please do not use radios, walkmans or mobile phones loudly.

Important Information!

In case when our users need to register in the University Library in order to use Scholarly book collections, electronic resources subscribed by NaUKMA, visit scholarly events - the University Library rules of registration applied:

University Library Registration Rules:

Persons under 16 years of age with permanent residence in Kyiv or Kyiv region may apply for the Library membership basing on their parents’ passport(s). Persons under   16 years can apply for a University Library Plastic Card for free.

Persons over 16 years of age with permanent residence in Kyiv or Kyiv region may apply for the Library membership for 400 UAH/per 1 year. In case you are not a permanent resident of Kyiv or Kyiv region and you'd like to borrow books you may bring the reference from:

• place of your permanent work in Kyiv
• dean's office, if you are a full-time student

Persons who have pensioners ID can apply for a membership card for free.

University Plastic library card for a year costs 400 UAH. To obtain a library card you should show a passport with the proof Kyiv or Kyiv region residence. A valid library card entitles you to borrow books and use other library services. The term of the library membership is 1 year.

Members have to renew their membership card every 1 year and to pay 400 UAH for the next one year term. Any person who does not have permanent residence in Kyiv may obtain a University Library Plastic Card and use the Library including American Library facilities but may not borrow books. Non-Ukrainian residents have to present a residence registration valid for at least half a year to borrow books.

Please inform us if there is a change in your name, address or phone number.

Please report immediately if you happened to lose your library card. You will not be held responsible for items borrowed at your card after the loss was reported.

Students, Ph.D. students, and lecturers of NaUKMA are free to issue a membership card. The card grants the right to use books in reading rooms and the issuance of copies with the appropriate status for the subscription, the use of electronic resources and databases on the local network, as well as the right to remote access to electronic resources.

For NaUKMA graduates, the annual re-registration of the card will cost 100 UAH.

For third-party users, the entry is made on the basis of a passport and a paid annual registration fee, the letter of guarantee from the institution is no longer required.

For third-party users, the cost of a membership card for 1 year to the American Library is 400 UAH, to the NaUKMA Library - 400 UAH, for students of other higher educational institutions of Ukraine (except for NaUKMA) - 200 UAH.

A free ticket for librarians of other institutions is provided, as well as a ticket to the American Library for pensioners and schoolchildren. More information about the cost of tickets can be found in Document About fines and paid services.

ПРАВИЛА КОРИСТУВАННЯ АМЕРИКАНСЬКОЮ БІБЛІОТЕКОЮ НаУКМА

Американська бібліотека - структурний підрозділ НаУКМА, є загальнодоступною і надає послуги широкому загалу користувачів.

Відвідування заходів Американської бібліотеки, отримання консультацій стосовно використання е-ресурсів, академічної доброчесності, медіа та інформаційної грамотності, кіноперегляди, дискусії, робота в читальному залі забезпечуються членством Американської бібліотеки і є безкоштовними.

Як стати користувачем бібліотеки

Користувачем Американської бібліотеки може стати будь-яка особа з постійною реєстрацією проживання у Києві або Київській області. Особи, котрі не мають постійної реєстрації у Києві або Київській області, і хочуть брати книжки додому, повинні надати довідку: 

• з місця постійної роботи у Києві;
• з місця навчання, якщо навчаються на стаціонарі в одному з ВНЗ.

Видача літератури

Послуги бібліотеки є безкоштовними. Одночасно можна взяти не більше чотирьох книг терміном на два тижні. Подовжити термін користування ви можете:

Подовжувати термін користування книгами можна до трьох разів. 

Пеня та провинності

За кожен день, що минув після призначеного терміну повернення книги, стягується пеня у розмірі 3 гривні.

Застереження

Не можна брати додому довідкову літературу, альбоми з мистецтва, поточні номери періодичних видань, настільні ігри.

Вживання їжі, напоїв, тютюнових виробів у приміщенні бібліотеки забороняється. Будь ласка, не розмовляйте голосно та не користуйтеся програвачами і мобільними телефонами у бібліотеці.

У разі втрати книги читач надає бібліотеці рівноцінну або сплачує десятикратну вартість втраченої.

За постійне порушення правил читач може бути позбавлений права користуватися бібліотекою.

Остання п'ятниця кожного місяця - санітарний день.

Американська бібліотека є структурним підрозділом НаУКМА і використання ресурсів університету регулюється Правилами згідно з наказом №526 від 29.11.2019.

В разі, якщо користувачам Американської бібліотеки потрібно скористатись послугами Наукової Бібліотеки НаУКМА, пластиковий читацький квиток оформлюється за такими правилами:

Правила Реєстрації до Наукової Бібілотеки НаУКМА

Особи віком до 16 років з постійною реєстрацією проживання у Києві або Київській області можуть стати користувачем Американської бібліотеки на основі паспорту одного з батьків.

Для осіб, які мають пенсійне посвідчення та осіб віком до 16 років реєстрація безкоштовна

Для запису необхідно подати паспорт з чинною постійною реєстрацією проживання у Києві або Київській області та заповнити реєстраційну форму.

Читацький квиток коштує 400 гривень (на підставі наказу № 304 від 09 липня 2018 року «Про пеню та платні послуги») і є дійсним протягом року з дня запису до бібліотеки. Він дає можливість брати книжки додому та користуватися іншими послугами бібліотеки.

Читацький квиток може бути поновлений по закінченні терміну дії. Поновлення становить 400 грн.

Особи,  які  не є громадянами України,  повинні надати дозвіл  на проживання протягом не менше ніж півроку, аби отримати квиток з правом позичати книжки.

У разі втрати читацького квитка слід негайно повідомити про це працівників бібліотеки. Читач також повинен повідомити про зміну його особистих даних.

Для студентів, аспірантів та викладачів НаУКМА оформлення читацького квитка безкоштовне. Квиток надає право на користування книжками в читальних залах та видачу примірників з відповідним статусом на абонемент, користування електронними ресурсами та базами даних в локальній мережі, а також право на віддалений доступ до електронних ресурсів.

Для випускників НаУКМА щорічна перереєстрація читацького коштуватиме 100 грн.

Для сторонніх користувачів запис відбувається на підставі паспорту та сплаченого реєстраційного щорічного внеску, гарантійний лист від установи більше не потрібен.

Для сторонніх користувачів вартість читацького квитка на 1 рік до Наукової бібліотеки – 400 грн, для студентів інших вищих навчальних закладів України (окрім НаУКМА) – 200 грн.

Viktor Kytasty (1943-2000)

Doctor of Philosophy, literate, Honourable Doctor of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, lecturer of NaUKMA, first director of the America House in Kyiv, founder of the America House Library, which in its turn became the foundation of our American Library.
At the same time, Viktor Kytasty was the director of the Ukraine Parliamentary Program of The Association of U.S. Congress Former Members, head adviser of Economics Education and Research Consortium-Ukraine (EERC-Ukraine).

The American of Ukrainian origin he lived and worked in Ukraine since 1992 until his untimely death in 2000.

He is a sun of Hryhory Kytasty (1907-1984), the prominent Ukrainian bandura player and composer, director of the famed Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of Detroit. Viktor Kytasty is the creator of The Arts of Kobzar Project, which aimed to preserve for future generations the unique features of national culture by modern technologies.

Viktor Kytasty, as a member of the NaUKMA Library Friends Club, did everything he could in order to build up our library.

American Library is a public library maintained as a department of the National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy Scientific Library.

The U.S. Embassy in Ukraine transferred the library from the America House to the campus of the Kyiv-Mohyla Academy in 1998.

The American Library bears the name of Viktor Kytasty, Ph.D., Professor of The National University of Kyiv-Mohyla Academy, first director of the America House in Ukraine, and founder of the America House Library.
