On Thursday, May 29 American Library held a training by Sergiy Nazarovets, Deputy Director of IT in NaUKMA: “An excursion to the problem of scientometrics and exploring resources Web of Science from Thomson Reuters”. Web of Science is the largest reference database, that provides easy access to high-quality interdisciplinary relevant information for researchers, teachers and students. It gives opportunity to search over 55 million records from the top journals, conference proceedings, books in social and art sciences.

Young readers of Children's Library Club today received certificates and fairy-tale books. Students from local Kyiv School were ambitious in their first Library acquaintance, reading stories, learning English and familiarizing with American Kid's popular movies. Children's Library Club was conducted by American Library and Ukrainian initiative "Add Reading" by a fairy-tale author Evhenia Pirog. June 5 - American Library will be carrying a lecture about studying in United States, provided by Kevin Huston (Washington Language School). Lecture will concern preparation for language tests, applying to university, studying and living in U.S. Start at 17.00, American Library Kyiv.

Today is birthday of Rachel Carson, American marine biologist and conservationist, founder of contemporary environmental movement, author of Silent Spring, advocate of nature and environmental ethics. Her book "Silent Spring" and other writings are credited with advancing the global environmental movement.
