Since 2002 September 11th is known as Patriot Day in the USA. It is also referred to as ‘Nine-Eleven’ and is globally remembered by the tragedy of September 11th, 2001, when as it is reported 2,977 people died in the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center.

US Flags should be flown at half mast on this day. And at 8:46 a.m. (EST) a moment of silence is held across the US nation in commemoration of the exact time on September 11, 2001 when the first plane struck the North Tower of the World Trade Center.
People attend the 9/11 Memorial Services, share their memories of the tragic events, visit the National September 11 Memorial and Museum in New York City, and show support to the emergency personnel as a way to honor policemen and firemen who gave their lives on 9/11.
