The United States Embassy would like to invite you to attend a speech on the U.S. civil rights movement and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream Speech.”  The talk will be given by Tyrone Parker, an American civil rights activist and the founder and Executive Director of the Alliance of Concerned Men (ACM).  The Alliance of Concerned Men is an award-winning non-profit organization whose goal is to save the lives of at-risk youth residing in high crime areas of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  Since 1991, ACM has been providing community services to families and children at risk and in crisis throughout the Washington metropolitan area.

Tyrone Parker has also served on the staff of the D.C. Housing Authority, in the D.C. Department of Corrections, and as a volunteer mentor with several youth agencies.  Mr. Parker has testified on juvenile justice before Congress, including on the subject of expanding opportunities for community and neighborhood partnerships and on the District of Columbia’s ban on handguns.
