Nina Sankovith was born in Evanston, Illinois, to immigrant parents. When Nina's eldest sister died, she turned to books for comfort, escape and introspection. In her beloved purple chair, she rediscovered the magic of such writers as Toni Morrison, Nathaniel Hawthrone, Ian McEwan, Edith Wharton, and, of course, Leo Tolstoy. Through the connections Nina made with books, her life changed profoundly. Today she reviews books on ReadAllDay and The New York Times. Reading, it turns out, can be the ultimate therapy.

Today we continued on our Kid's Club meetings. Children from local Kyiv schools discovered American Library, watched movies in English, and improved their vocabulary with new words. This Autumn we'll keep holding such occasions each Thursday at 1.30 p.m.

This week we decided to display fiction books, which had gained a Literary Prize. Starting with newest, the Nobel Prize in Literature (2013) - Alice Munro, till much earlier, Newberry Honor Book Award (1953) - "Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White.

On Monday, October the 20th, American Library held training about Library usage for future researchers. Students discovered Electronic catalogues and Electronic databases with up-to-date scientific materials: dissertations, monographs, journals.
