Today we continued on our Kid's Club meetings. Children from local Kyiv schools discovered American Library, watched movies in English, and improved their vocabulary with new words. This Autumn we'll keep holding such occasions each Thursday at 1.30 p.m.

This week we decided to display fiction books, which had gained a Literary Prize. Starting with newest, the Nobel Prize in Literature (2013) - Alice Munro, till much earlier, Newberry Honor Book Award (1953) - "Charlotte's Web" by E.B. White.

On Monday, October the 20th, American Library held training about Library usage for future researchers. Students discovered Electronic catalogues and Electronic databases with up-to-date scientific materials: dissertations, monographs, journals.

Columbus Day, which is annually on the second Monday of October, remembers Christopher Columbus' arrival to the Americas on October 12, 1492. This week we decided to pick guides covering the USA and Canada. These guides will walk you state by state, starting on the East Coast and zigzagging from the New England to the Pacific Northwest.
