We are happy to invite you to the Poetry Reading Event which will be held at the American Library on September 13, 2016 at 3.30 p.m. - 5.00 p.m.

Our guest is American poet Ilya Kaminsky

His poems have been translated into numerous languages and his books have been published in many countries including Turkey, Holland, Russia, France, Mexico, Macedonia, Romania, Spain and China.

The topic is "Ilya Kaminsky – Poetry Reading and Q and A with the audience." Our guest will also give tips on creative writing and on translation into/from English and talk about translation of poetry in general.

Women's Equality Day is a day proclaimed each year by the United States President to commemorate the granting of the vote to women throughout the country. Women in the United States were granted the right to vote on August 26, 1920, when the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was certified as law. This week we've chosen books on feminism, gender equality, women's suffrage, women's rights, family and relationships.

This week we picked books about music of the United States, whichreflects the country's multi-ethnic population through a diverse array of styles. It is a mixture of music influenced by West African, Irish, Scottish, Mexican, and Cuban music traditions among others. The country's most internationally renowned genres are jazz, blues, country, bluegrass, rock, rhythm and blues, ragtime, hip hop, barbershop, pop, experimental, techno, house, dance, boogaloo, salsa, and rock and roll.
