On October, 7th American Library (NaUKMA) hosted a seminar on "News know-how: librarians, students, and journalists work together to monitor and evaluate news."

Seminar was moderated by Barbara Jones, Director of Office for Intellectual Freedom at the American Library Association, headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Barbara Jones is also an Executive Director of the Freedom to Read Foundation. She received a Ph.D. in U.S. history at the University of Minnesota and a Master of Library Service at Columbia University in New York. Moreover, Barbara devoted 40 years of her library career to investigating the topic of intellectual freedom in libraries. Today Barbara is an author of 2 books, dedicated to intellectual freedom in libraries: “Libraries, Access, and Intellectual Freedom: Developing Policies for Public and Academic Libraries” (1999) and “Protecting Intellectual Freedom in Your Academic Library: Scenes from the Front Lines” (2009).

Today American Library held a discussion club, organized by FLEX Alumni. The first meeting was dedicated to Travelling. Join the next club to improve your English speaking skills. Discussion club is held every Thursday at 4.30 p.m.

Dear Library users, in October we are having temporary working hours change.

 

During week of unsupervised work in NaUKMA (21 October - 27 October), 

working hours are: 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.

On Friday, October 25 - the Library is closed due to clean up day.

On Monday, October 28 - The Library hours are 10.00-14.00.
