August 26 of each year is Women's Equality Day.

Women's Equality Day is a day proclaimed by the United States President to commemorate the granting of the vote to women throughout the country on an equal basis with men. Women in the United States were granted the right to vote on August 26, 1920, when the 19th Amendment to the United States Constitution was certified.
Today we picked books on women's suffrage, history of women's rights, theoretical aspects of feminism and stories of lives of extraordinary women.

The United States Embassy would like to invite you to attend a speech on the U.S. civil rights movement and the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on the 50th Anniversary of Dr. King’s famous “I Have a Dream Speech.”  The talk will be given by Tyrone Parker, an American civil rights activist and the founder and Executive Director of the Alliance of Concerned Men (ACM).  The Alliance of Concerned Men is an award-winning non-profit organization whose goal is to save the lives of at-risk youth residing in high crime areas of the Washington D.C. metropolitan area.  Since 1991, ACM has been providing community services to families and children at risk and in crisis throughout the Washington metropolitan area.
